Parmesan Breadsticks
1 cup warm water1 Tablespoon sugar
1 (scant) Tablespoon yeast
1 Tablespoon olive oil
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup shredded fresh parmesan cheese
Additional olive oil for toppings
Optional toppings: kosher salt, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, parmesan cheese,
dried herbs
Place sugar and yeast in bread machine. Pour one cup warm water
over and let mixture foam for 15 minutes. Add 1 Tablespoon olive
oil and flour. Use any cycle on bread machine to knead dough for
15 minutes, then let dough rest for another 15 minutes. Turn out
onto floured board and divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each
piece into an 8" cigar and place 2" apart on an oiled baking sheet.
Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with any/all of the suggested
toppings above. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 400
for 15-18 minutes. Serve warm.
