1 cup all-purpose flour
 1 cup yellow corn meal
 2 eggs, separated
 3 tsp baking powder
 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 cups milk
 2 Tbsp sugar
 6 Tbsp liquid shortening (oil)
 1 tsp salt
 Mix and sift dry ingredients.  Add egg yolks, milk and shortening.
 Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
 Bake in waffle iron until done.
