Candy Apples
8 small red apples8 wooden skewers
3 dl granulated sugar
1 1/4 dl water
1/2 tablespoon glucose
red food colouring
Remove stems and pedicels from the apples. Wash and dry them
carefully. Put a skewer into each apple.
The sugar coating: Stir together sugar, water and glucose in a
small pan. Bring the pan slowly to a boil and cook on slow until
the sugar melts. Increase heat and boil until it thickens (stir).
You can tell when the liquid is ready by first dipping a cocktail/tooth
pick intothe mixture and then into cold water. If the liquid
solidifies, it's done. (Add a few drops of red food coluring to
the liquid.)
Dip the apples into the hot liquid, turning them around in it to
spread the coating evenly. Put the apples on a baking sheet or a
greased plate and let them cool. It'll take about 30 minutes for
the coating to solidify.
