My Favorite Chili

1 lb. lean ground beef

1 large green bell pepper - chopped

2 cups chopped onion

3 cloves garlic, minced (I use 3 tsp. of the kind they sell in a jar)

1 1/4 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. black pepper

2 tsp. chili powder (or more to taste)

1 tbsp. ground cumin

1-15 oz. can kidney beans (drained/rinsed, for lower fat recipe) or

chili hot beans

1-28 oz. can whole tomatoes, cut up, with juice

1 cup picante sauce

8 oz. fresh mushrooms - chopped

Brown ground beef, onions and green pepper until meat is done and

onions are translucent. drain off fat.

Add spices, beans, tomatoes and picante sauce.

Bring to a boil, then add mushrooms, and reduce heat to med./low

Simmer 10-20 minutes until mushrooms have cooked down into the chili

Serve it up hot...

My husband eats almost one entire recipe of this by himself, so if

you're a chili fan, you may want to double it right off. Enjoy!
