Title: Fresh Apple Cobbler

Fresh Apple Cobbler

      2 c  Apples; thinly sliced

1/2 c Brown Sugar

1/2 ts Cinnamon

1/2 ts Nutmeg

1 tb Grated Lemon Peel

1 tb Lemon Juice

1 1/2 c Flour

1 tb Baking Powder

1 tb Sugar

1/2 ts Salt

1/3 c Butter

1/2 c Milk

1 Egg; well-beaten

2 tb Sugar

Arrange apples in a buttered 8x8x2-inch pan. Sprinkle with mixture of

sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon peel, and lemon juice. Heat in 400 degree

oven while preparing shortcake crust.

Sift together flour, baking powder, 1 Tablespoon sugar, and salt. Cut in

butter until mixture in like coarse crumbs. Add milk and egg at once. Stir

until flour is just moistened. Spread dough over hot apples. Sprinkle with

2 Tablespoons sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
