Blond Brownies

1/2 c butter, room temperature

2 c packed light brown sugar

4 large eggs

2 tsp almond extract

2 1/2 c flour

2 tsp. baking powder

1 1/2 c almonds, chopped

1 1/2 cups (9 oz) semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar. Beat in the eggs

and almond extract. Gradually blend in the flour and baking powder.

Stir in the almonds and chocolate chips.

Spread batter evenly in an ungreased 13x9" baking pan. Bake 15-20

min., until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cut

into large or small bars while still warm and cool in the pan on

a rack. Yield: 1-2 dozen
