Apple Crumble
75g / 3 oz margarine or butter75g / 3 oz plain flour
75g / 3 oz wholemeal flour
75g / 3 oz demarara sugar
1 1/2 lb / 675 g cooking apples
3 oz / 75 g sugar
2 tbsp water
Grease a medium-sized pie dish. Rub fat into flours until the
mixture resembles breadcrumbs, stir in the sugar.
Peel, core and thinly slice the apples. Put the apples in the
dish, sprinkle with sugar and water.
Pile the crumble mixture over until the apples are completely
covered. Bake at 180C, 350F, Gas 4, until fruit is cooked and
crumble is golden brown.
Serve with lots and lots of custard!
