Applesauce Bread Pudding
There was a request for bread pudding with no refined sugar... I haveattached a recipe for Applesauce Bread Pudding that only has refined
sugar sprinkled on the top (and I'm sure could be left out if desired.)
Applesauce Bread Pudding
1 lb apples -- peel, core & chunk
1/3 c water
4 c white bread -- remove crusts, cube
6 Tbsp butter -- melted
1/3 c maple syrup
1 1/2 Tbsp sugar
3/4 tsp cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375.
In a saucepan, combine apples and water and cook over moderately high
heat until soft and liquid is boiled away. Beat with a fork to make a
relatively smooth puree. ** OR USE 1 cup PREPARED APPLESAUCE.
Combine sugar in cinnamon, set aside.
Toss bread with butter and syrup in an 8" pie plate. Stir the
applesauce into bread mixture and sprinkle sugar evenly over top.
Bake at 375 for 30 minutes. Serve with whipped cream, ice cream or
custard sauce.
