Goan Style Fried Tofu

1 pound fried tofu

1-inch piece ginger, chopped

8 cloves garlic, peeled

1 1/2 cups water

4 tablespoons peanut oil

6 medium onions peeled and chopped

1 hot chili peppers, sliced in rounds

1/2 teaspoon tumeric

2 teaspoons ground cumin

1/2 fresh coconut, grated

1/2 teaspoon salt

Blend garlic and ginger. Add half of the water and blend until

smooth.

Heat oil in a large pan. When hot add onion and fry until translucent.

Now add the paste from the blender with chillies, tumeric, and

cumin and fry for 1 minute. Add coconut, salt and remainder of

water. Bring to boil.

Add the tofu, mix well. Bring to boil. Cover and lower heat.

Serve immediately.
