Apple Strudel
(serves 6-8)6 apples (MacIntosh or Cortland)
1/3 of a package puff dough or phyllo dough
2 Tbsp. dry red gelatin
raisins (optional)
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
use approx. 9" x 12" cookie sheet
Roll dough on floured as thin as possible and set aside. wash,
peel, and slice apples. Pour lemon juice over the apples to keep
the apples from turning brown. Mix with cinnamon and sugar. Spread
the apple mixture, cherries, and rasins onto the dough. Sprinkle
gelatin powder and roll into a log about 3" in diameter. Place on
cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
Allow to cool. Slice into 3" pieces on the diagonal and sprinkle
with icing sugar before serving.
