BEER CAKE

1 cup crisco shortening

2 cups lt brown sugar

2 eggs

3 cups flour

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp cloves

1/2 tsp allspice

2 tsp baking soda

1 cup chopped nuts

1 cup chopped dates or raisins

2 8-oz cans cold beer

Cream shortening sugar and add and blend in eggs. Combine dry

ingredients and mix well into creamed ingredients. Stir in last

the nuts, dates and cold beer and mix well.

Place into a greased tube pan or 2 loaf pans. Bake 350 for 1 hour

and 20 minutes or tested done. When cold, sift on powdered sugar.
