GERMAN (Pommern) ALMOND PUFF
1/2 cup butter1 cup flour
2-3 tablespoons water
1/2 cup butter
1 cup water
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup flour
3 eggs
Cut butter into flour. Add water to mixture. Mix and form into a
ball. Divide in half.
On an ungreased cookie sheet, form dough into two strips about 3
inches by 15 inches long.
In a sauce pan heat the butter and water to boiling. Remove from
heat and add the flour and almond extract. Over low heat add the
eggs and stir until smooth.
Spread over the two strips covering cmpletely. Bake at 350 degrees
for 1 hour. Cool and frost.
Frosting
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons soft butter
1 teaspoon almond extract
1-2 tablespoons warm water
Mix frosting ingredients and stir until smooth. Frost each strip
and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
Comments: This is the most fantastic german desert my friends and
I have ever tasted.... I have request from then to make it often.
