Ham Steaks 02
HAM STEAK HAWAIIAN WITH BANANASSource: Good Housekeeping
serves 4-6
1/2 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup red or white wine vinegar
1 smoked ham center slice, cut 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick (about 1 1/2 pounds)
4 firm medium bananas
In 12 inch skillet over medium heat, heat brown sugar, butter or margarine
and vinegar until sugar is melted, stirring frequently. Add ham slice to
sugar mixture. Cook 5 minutes on each side or until heated through. With
pancake turner, arrange ham on heated platter. Keep warm. Remove skillet
from heat. Cut bananas into the sugar mixture in the skillet. Cook over
medium heat, basting bananas with sauce until bananas are just heated
through, about 5 minutes. With spoon, carefully spoon banana chunks onto
platter to surround ham slice. Spoon sauce remaining in skillet over ham
and bananas. Serve warm.
